Brown Rot
This fungal disease infects cherries, plums, and peaches. The fungus is most noticeable on the fruit, but will also infect the twigs and produce sunken cankers. Infected fruit will develop a brown, watery rot with many tan to gray spores covering the area. Individual leaves and twigs may dieback as well.
Control: Sanitation is the best control. Remove and destroy infected fruit and twigs. Rake up and discard shrivelled or "mummified" fruit that remain on the tree or have fallen to the ground. Fungicides are available.
