Mealybug
These soft-bodied insects are oval in shape and covered with a white, powdery material. When mature, some species have long waxy filaments that extend from the rear of their body. They suck plant juices, which results in distorted, yellowed leaves. Mealybugs feed on a variety of ornamental plants.
Control: Remove mealybugs with a toothpick or tweezers. Wet or remove the insects with a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol. Do not overapply because alcohol may burn the leaves. Insecticides are available.
