Authentic Vintage Darlington Raceway Southern 500 Souvenir Hat (1950s – 1960s)
- Linen-like fabric souvenir hat from Darlington Raceway with Southern 500 logo on embroidered patch·
- Size 7 1/8
- Labeled “Made in Japan”
- Excellent condition
This hat was acquired from the estate of Mrs. Clarice Lane, an icon at the Darlington Raceway who served as administrative assistant to the first six presidents of the track, for a total of over fifty-four years (from 1950 to 2004). She was married to the late Floyd Lane, who was the manager of the Joe Weatherly Stock Car Museum, established in 1964, and who also sold souvenirs at the track. The logo on the front of the hat was used from used from 1950 to the early 1970s, but because of the material and sizing it is believed to be from the period 1950 (first race at Darlington) to the mid-1960s.
