About the Course

Longleaf pine once covered 60-90 million acres in the Southeastern US. Today, longleaf covers approximately 3.5 million acres. This course is designed to provide forsters, landowners and land managers with information to effectively re-establish longleaf pine on old-field sites, pasturelands and grasslands. Topcis covered include establishment periods, seedling selection, planting, competition control, prescribed fire prescriptions, fertilization regimes and economics.

Who Should Attend

Foresters, land managers, forest landowners, and others interested in establishing longleaf pine on old-field sites and grass/pasturelands and the economics of growing longleaf pine.

In order to receive pesticide continuing education credit, you MUST have your license number with you and available. No exceptions.
Full attendnace is mandatory to received continuing education credits (CFE or pesticide credits). Partial credit is not available.

The fee for the workshop is $175 if received by April 10, 2013. After this date, registration will be $235. Workshop materials will be distributed during the registration period. About the Instructor

Dr. David Dickens is a Professor of Forest Productivity at the University of Georgia and is stationed at Georgia Southern University. He recieved his BS in 1985 from the University of Georiga then went on to Clemson University to receive his MS (1988) and PhD (1997).

Dr. Dave J. Moorhead is a Professor of Silviculture at the University of Georgia. Dr. Moorhead received his BS from the University of Kentucky, his MS from Mississippi State and his PhD from the University of Missouri.

Cancellation of registration must be made 7 days in advance to obtain a full refund. Refunds after that date will be subject to a $50 service charge. Refunds will not be given 3 days prior to the workshop. If cancellation becomes necessary, substitution in lieu of cancellation is recommended. For cancellation please call 864-656-0606. Should Clemson University cancel this course for any reason, a full refund of registration will be made. Clemson University will not be responsible for any other costs the registrant may incur.
