Sassafras
Sassafras Albidum
betula_nigra

The sassafras tree has been famous since pioneer days for the "tea" made by boiling its roots. Leaves that are mitten-shaped, 3-lobed, and elliptical may be found on the same tree. The leaves, twigs, and buds are aromatic when crushed or chewed.
