Dr. English's appointment is primarily Extension, with some teaching and research responsibilities. His Extension responsibilities are to provide the citizens of South Carolina science-based information on conservation of water quality given the multitude of land-use practices that affect it (forestry, farming, ranching, confined animal culture, urban development, etc.). Water quality education and programming is directed at water/land resource managers, educators, environmental conservation groups, water users and youth. His research is directed at the biotic responses in streams to natural and anthropogenic nonppoint source stressors. He serves as director of SCDHEC Certified Water Resources Labs for testing of Fecal coliform and macroinvertebrates and teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Stream Ecology and Watershed Management.

Mr. Powell's resposibilities are as follows: Fulfill Carolina Clear Contracts with municipalities in Horry and Georgetown Counties who are regulated by the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System Phase II general permit, coordinate education and public involvement programs regarding surface water resources, work in concert with other educators in the region as a member of the Coastal Waccamaw Stormwater Education Consortium (click here for more information on the consortium), assist with coordination of other statewide initiatives in Natural Resources such as Master Naturalist, Master Tree Farmer, and Master Wildlifer, and inform citizens in service area regarding topics such as wildlife conservation, nuisance wildlife control, pond management, aquaculture, water quality/quantity, and other natural resource related topics. Dr. Yarrow's appointment is 50% Extension, 25% teaching, and 25% research. His Extension responsibilities include development and delivery of educational programs in wildlife conservation in managed systems (forestry and agricultural production), mitigation of human-wildlife conflicts through wildlife damage management techniques, and maintenance and enhancement of biodiversity in managed landscapes. Applied research that addresses current and future wildlife conservation needs of clientele is also a program responsibility. Extension clientele include private landowners, natural resource professionals, government officials, public policy makers, and the general public. His areas of expertise are wildlife conservation and ecology, integration of wildlife conservation on private forest and agricultural lands, human-wildlife conflict mitigation, wildlife damage management, and enhancement of biodiversity in managed landscapes.
