4-H The Great Outdoors: Homeschool Edition

Mission

The mission of SC 4-H Youth Development utilizes a learn by doing approach to empower youth to become healthy, productive, and contributing members of society.

What is The Great Outdoors Program?
4-H Great Outdoors is a short term special interest unit for youth to gain the appreciation of previously acquired skills, including the areas of reading and science, mathematics, art, health, physical education and social studies.  Youth have the opportunity to obtain an appreciation, understanding, and awareness of the natural world by studying and interacting with nature. The 4-H Great Outdoors program separates youth from their everyday setting in order to give them an opportunity to express new aspects of their personalities, achieve increased self-esteem, and gain a new perspective on how to relate to their peers and their environment.
