Make Your Mark

White illustrative symbols representing a car, the exclamation mark “caution” sign and a cellphone are framed by bright blue hexagons. These symbols overlay an overhead shot of an urban highway system.

The Road Ahead

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of unintentional injuries and death in the United States and in developing nations. With the rise of autonomous vehicles and connected infrastructure, maintaining safe roads is imperative. Clemson’s Master of Transportation Safety Administration is addressing this need at the intersection of research and academics by producing a road safety workforce capable of deploying evidence-based strategies and best practices. The program examines the complex transportation safety issues society will confront in the next decade-plus from various perspectives, including behavioral safety programs, infrastructure programs and emergency management, among others.
