Social Media Research Initiative

Building on the innovative work at the Social Media Listening Center at Clemson University, the Charles H. Houston Center is engaged in a research project designed to examine content on social media pertaining to the Black experience in education. Utilizing Radian6, which enables users to examine information on social media, researchers at the Charles H. Houston Center employ content analysis methods and descriptive statistical procedures to pursue the following objectives:

  • Analyze the complexity of the information exchanged via social media pertaining to educational issues impacting African Americans
  • Examine social media information to explore the effects of research and scholarship regarding the Black experience in education on the perspectives and behaviors of Twitter and Facebook users
