  • Clemson University’s Municipal Court is currently closed and staff is working primarily from home. The closing is pursuant to Orders from the Chief Justice of our state Supreme Court.
  • We are in the process of rescheduling all of our pending court cases (not including jury trials) for September court dates. A continuance notice will be mailed to the address on your ticket. IF YOUR ADDRESS IS DIFFERENT FROM WHAT IS SHOWN ON YOUR TICKET, PLEASE CONTACT THE COURT IMMEDIATELY SO WE CAN GET YOUR CONTINUANCE PACKET TO YOU IN A TIMELY MANNER. Contact us at 864-656-5258 or email Nancy Belanger at nbelang@clemson.edu to provide us with an updated address.
  • FOR TRAFFIC CASES: Included with the continuance notice will be instructions for those individuals who would like to just pay the fine and plead guilty. This will require signing a consent form and returning it to us with your payment. You can also pay your fine online at www.clemsonuniversitycourtpayments.com however, you will still need to provide us with the consent form included with your continuance notice. We are also including an informational brochure for the Traffic Education Program. Information is also available here on our website. This program is an opportunity to keep a traffic charge of 4 points or less from going on your record. If you are interested in more details about this program prior to getting your continuance packet, please call the Solicitor’s Diversion Program at 864-898-5628 and choose the option for the Traffic Education Program.
  • FOR CRIMINAL CHARGES: The process for handling our criminal cases is a little more complicated. We are currently working on the paperwork that we will send with our continuance notices for criminal charges and they should be going out in the mail by the end of May. When we send out the notices, we will include information about the Alcohol Education Program (AEP) and the Pre-Trial Intervention Program (PTI), as well as information on Conditional Discharges. These are programs that may allow you to avoid having a criminal record. Details about these options are located here on our website. If you are interested in signing up for AEP, please contact the court at 864-656-7113. If you are interested in signing up for PTI, please call the Solicitor’s Diversion Program at 864-898-5628. If you are interested in a Conditional Discharge (for Simple Possession of Marijuana and Public Disorderly Conduct charges only), please contact the court at 864-656-5258 for instructions on how that will work. Instructions for entering a guilty plea or asking for a bench or jury trial will be included in your continuance packet.
  • Thank you for your patience as we all adjust to a new court and business environment. We will do our best to handle your pending charge(s) as quickly and efficiently as possible.
