Sam's Club Card Procedures

Sam's Club recently began accepting Pcard (VISA) to pay for products and memberships at their stores. Accordingly, beginning May 1, 2016, Sam's Club will become a P-card-only vendor, and the University will cancel all of the University-wide direct accounts that it currently has with Sam's Club on April 30, 2016.

Each Department will need to purchase and maintain the membership. The membership card only gains entry to the store(s) as you must pay with Pcard.   Payment is made by Pcard; therefore, all transactions must be in compliance with both Clemson University Pcard Policy and Clemson University Procurement Policy.

If a department does want to open a Sam's Club account, there are two levels of membership:

Plus Membership

  • $100 Annual ($10 rebate for every $500.00 purchased)
  • 1 Primary (Photo required)
  • 1 Secondary (Photo Required)
  • 1 Complementary Card (Name of Business/Dept)
  • May add-on for an additional (2 cards/$45) up to a total of 16
  • Each card requires a photo ID

Business Membership

  • $45 Annual (No rebate)
  • 1 Primary (Photo required)
  • 1 Secondary (Photo Required)
  • 1 Complementary Card (Name of Business/Dept)
  • May add-on for an additional (2 cards/$45) up to a total of 8
  • Each card requires a photo ID

FAQ'S

1. How do I obtain my department membership cards?

Visit any Sam’s Club and establish membership OR Go Online - http://www.samsclub.com/sams/homepage.jsp > Join or Renew.

2. May I purchase my Dept’s Sam’s Membership with Clemson Visa?

Yes.

3. Can anyone take a department membership card to Sam’s and Dr. John Doe’s Pcard and make a charge?

No. For security the payer will be asked for ID and the ID will not match the cardholder name.

It was suggested that the Visa cardholder utilize Sam’s Click ‘n’ Pull Service where a Sam’s Associate pulls the items and the cardholder makes the payment online. This is not the same as online ordering. A comment would be added to the “click 'n pull” stating the person to pick up. The membership card has to still be presented upon pickup.

4. Do I have to turn in receipts?

Yes, receipts must be turned in to your PCARD liaison.

5. If I have questions about the transition period, who do I need to contact?

AskProcurement on the Procurement website.

6. If I have questions regarding membership, who do I contact?

Sherry Daniel at Sam’s Club - phone 864-224-0869 or email: srdanie.s06463.us@samsclub.com
