Astrobiology Minor Committee

Last Updated: March 5, 2019

Established March 2019 by the Committee on Committees

For membership lists and updates, please contact Matt Fields

Description

Astrobiology is the newest and most interdisciplinary of research areas. The minor in astrobiology thus requires curricular oversight from a variety of different disciplines: astronomy, chemistry, biology - even philosophy. To that end, the committee has positions for four members representing different colleges (COS, CAFLS, CAAH and CBSHS). The members of the committee will in turn maintain active contact with relevant disciplines not directly represented at any given time on the committee and seek their input as needed.

The Astrobiology Minor Committee will oversee the various aspects of the astrobiology minor curriculum. Once the minor is established, this will primarily involve approving the capstone research experiences all students must undergo, but there may also be occasional course substitutions or program changes to deal with.
