About

Mason Jackson completed his undergraduate training in microbiology and chemistry at Clemson University, receiving his Bachelor of Science in 2017. He subsequently went on to complete medical school at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville (USCSOMG). He received his residency training in Emergency Medicine at Prisma Health Upstate where he served as chief resident He also served as an instructor and research mentor with the Clemson University Research Experience (CURE) at USCSOMG . He is currently the Chair of the Emergency Medicine Residents AssociaOon (EMRA) Toxicology CommiQee and serves as the EMRA RepresentaOve to the American College of Emergency Physicians Toxicology CommiQee. He also in a commissioned officer in the United States Navy currently holding the rank of Lieutenant (O-3). Mason will be an emergency physician aQached the 2d Medical BaQalion, II Marine ExpediOonary Force at Camp Lejeune following compleOon of his residency training in June 2024. His research interests include the emergency care and stabilizaOon of the acutely poisoned paOent, criOcal care, and poison prevenOon.

How their research is transforming health care

By researching poisoning prevention and critical care toxicology, Dr. Jackson can reduce the incidence of intentional and unintentional poising and overdoses in the community while ensuring that pre-hospital and hospital-based providers are ready to respond with the most updated knowledge and techniques for resuscitation of the acutely poisoned patient. Additionally, Dr. Jackson is exploring innovative new ways to promote education of toxicologic concepts to professional health students and physicians, thus transforming healthcare for community members, patients, and healthcare providers.
