Clemson Curates

A Visual Arts Curatorial Team: Interpret, Provoke, Reveal

Clemson Curates is a Creative Inquiry project focused on developing visual arts exhibitions for the Clemson campus. Students from across academic disciplines work as a team-members to research artists, select works of art and prepare exhibition content for dissemination across campus.

Students conduct artist studio visits and interviews to learn more about artists’ inspiration, creative processes and research methodologies.  Following their research students develop a list of participating artists, select works of art, and plan exhibition layout and installations.  Students also write exhibition content, prepare art for installation, design exhibit signage and develop marketing content for various media platforms for exhibitions they coordinate.

Students develop their professional management skills by preparing loan agreements, developing speaking contracts and maintaining condition reports and list of works. Students build their communication skills by developing exhibition content, designing ads, and preparing social media content.

Clemson Curates students manage the ground floor of Sikes Hall, the CAAH Dean’s Gallery in Strode Tower and occasionally the Acorn Gallery in Lee Hall and the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts venues as projects arise.
