Active Threat/Targeted Violence Preparedness and Awareness

Featuring the Avoid, Deny, Defend model, the presentation utilizes professionally scripted public service videos and covers the nationally endorsed response principles.

CUPD officers discuss state law and present DUI arrest demonstrations. Law enforcement and safety presentations can be tailored to a specific group or situation.

Ambulance Request

CUFD provides ambulance standby services for non-emergency special events, including athletic events, community gatherings, festivals, and other planned activities. Requests must be submitted at least 30 days in advance and are subject to personnel and unit availability. The current rate for ambulance standby services is $60 per hour.

Apartment / Multi-Family Housing Safety

CUFD provides fire and life safety education for apartment and multi-family housing residents. Topics may include smoke alarm awareness, cooking safety, evacuation planning, fire extinguisher basics, and other safety measures designed to help residents prevent emergencies and respond appropriately when they occur.

CPR Certification Class

CUFD offers Health & Safety Institute (HSI) certification classes in Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, AED use, and First Aid. Participants will gain the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to recognize and respond to a variety of medical emergencies. Classes are designed for groups of 8–12 participants and are available for a fee of $30 per person. Upon successful completion, participants will receive an HSI certification card.

Fire Drill

CUFD conducts fire drills for academic and residential buildings to help occupants become familiar with emergency procedures and evacuation routes. Fire drills provide an opportunity to practice safe evacuation, identify potential concerns, and ensure compliance with fire and life safety requirements.

Fire Safety Home Assessment

CUFD offers home safety assessments to help residents identify potential fire and life safety hazards within their homes. As part of this service, personnel can provide smoke alarm battery replacements, smoke alarm change-outs when needed, and safety recommendations to help keep residents and their families safe.

Fire Station Tour

CUFD offers fire station tours for community groups, organizations, and individuals interested in learning more about the fire service. Tours provide an opportunity to meet firefighters, explore emergency apparatus, and learn about fire safety and emergency response. Tours may be scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. If you would like to request a tour outside of these hours, please email cufdoutreach@clemson.edu for availability.

Fire Truck Request

CUFD may provide a fire truck for community events, educational programs, and public outreach opportunities when staffing and operational demands allow. Fire truck appearances offer attendees the chance to see emergency apparatus up close, interact with firefighters, and learn about fire safety and emergency services. Requests are subject to availability and emergency response needs.

Fire and Life Safety Smoke House Trailer

CUFD's Fire & Life Safety Smoke House Trailer provides an interactive, hands-on learning experience that teaches participants how to safely respond to fire emergencies, including home escape planning and smoke alarm awareness. Due to the size of the trailer and resources required for operation, this program is reserved for large-scale community events and is subject to personnel and equipment availability.

Hands-Only CPR

CUFD offers Hands-Only CPR training to teach community members the lifesaving skills needed to respond to a sudden cardiac arrest emergency. Participants will learn how to recognize cardiac arrest, activate emergency services, and perform high-quality chest compressions until professional help arrives. This class is designed for individuals and groups seeking basic CPR awareness and does not provide certification.

Interpersonal Violence

CUPD officers share information about the problems and characteristics associated with interpersonal violence.

Personal Preparedness

Emergency Management provides information about how to plan and prepare for emergencies and natural and man-made disasters. The three-prong approach of Be Informed, Make a Plan and Build a Kit, provides a simple framework for individuals and families to follow to adequately prepare for any situation that they may be impacted by.

Personal Safety

CUPD conducts an informative program that discusses the types of crimes that occur at Clemson and offers advice on reducing the risk of becoming a victim.

Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.)

CUPD's team of R.A.D. certified instructors provides a practical self-management program designed to educate women on techniques that reduce the risk of becoming a rape victim and how to escape an attack.
