Agricultural Safety

The Clemson University Agricultural Safety Program is part of Clemson Cooperative Extension and focuses on promoting health and safety practices within South Carolina's agricultural communities. The program provides education, training, and outreach to reduce injuries and fatalities related to farming and other agricultural operations.

  • Key Areas Of Focus

The Clemson University Agricultural Safety Program focuses on several key areas to promote health and safety in South Carolina's agricultural communities. These include youth agricultural safety, where the program educates young people, such as FFA and 4-H members, on safe practices around equipment, livestock, chemicals, and ATVs. The program also emphasizes farm equipment safety by promoting the correct use of tractors, UTVs, ATVs and other machinery through workshops and demonstrations. Additionally, it addresses broader occupational health and safety concerns such as heat stress, noise exposure, and ergonomics for farm workers.

  • What We Provide

Program highlights include strong partnerships with schools, FFA chapters, and community organizations to expand the reach of safety education. The program conducts on-site safety demonstrations and hands-on workshops to reinforce key concepts. It also provides access to a variety of printed and digital educational materials, ensuring information is widely available. All content is grounded in research-based practices designed to support safer working environments in agriculture.
