About
Desmond Kelly is the Associate Chief Academic Officer for the Prisma Health Education and Research Institute (PHERI) and is a professor of clinical pediatrics at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville. He is the founder and current faculty member of the DeLoache Fellowship in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics of the Children’s Hospital and medical director of Kidnetics, the Pediatric Developmental Therapies group and Help Me Grow South Carolina, a program focused on early identification and treatment for children with developmental and behavioral concerns. Dr. Kelly has established, and is the medical director of, the Prisma Health Center for Neurodevelopmental Health. He is a Founding Emeritus Member of the Board of Directors of the Institute for Child Success, a non-profit, non-partisan research, policy and advocacy organization focused on the successful development of all children in early childhood. How their research is transforming health care
Dr. Kelly's early research was in hearing impairment and attention and learning disorders. His current research is in the area of early identification and treatment for young children with developmental and behavioral concerns and health equity for individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities. He promotes the importance of educating parents and professionals on early developmental milestones and engaging inter-professional teams and community agencies to identify and address developmental challenges in children from a patient and family-centered perspective and to improve the quality, safety, and experience of care for patients with neurodevelopmental disabilities.
