Dr. Allison graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Ph.D. in Nursing Science. She graduated from East Carolina University with a MSN in Nursing Education. She has a BSN from Western Carolina University. Dr. Allison is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at Clemson University in Clemson, SC. She is a Behavioral Health Nurse with experience across psychiatric populations and levels of acuity, including children, adolescents, and adults. Her research interests are adolescent mental health, rural mental health, and nurses’ mental health. Dr. Allison is a faculty affiliate in the Center for Addiction and Mental Health Research. Through collaborative partnerships with Prisma Health and Pee Dee Mental Health, Dr. Allison’s scholarship includes telehealth and technologies in rural underserved areas, adolescent mental health assessment in Family Medicine and specialty clinics, and nurses’ clinical preparation for rural Appalachian health delivery.

Dr. Allison’s research is transforming healthcare in South Carolina, an area with significant mental health disparities. Dr. Allison worked with Physicians and Nurse Practitioners at Prisma Health Family Medicine and Psychiatry to increase the frequency of adolescent depression screening. Additionally, Dr. Allison works to increase the rural healthcare nursing workforce in Appalachian and midlands, South Carolina, transforming healthcare in underserved populations.
