About
Feng Ding is a professor of biophysics in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. His research
expertise includes computational biophysics and structural bioinformatics. The Ding research lab focuses on
understanding the structure, dynamics and function relationship of biomolecules and molecular complexes using multiscale modeling approaches. The research interests of the lab range from methodology development to applications of these methods in protein misfolding and amyloid aggregation, molecular recognition, drug
discovery, interactions between engineered nanomaterials and biomolecules at the nano-bio interface, and biosensor design.

How Dr. Ding’s research is transforming health care
Feng’s research and scholarship focuses on understanding the disease mechanisms at the molecular level. The
mechanistic insights obtained by combining molecular modeling with experimental validation and characterization will help design therapeutic strategies in a cost-effective manner. The research effort to understand physicochemical determinations of interactions between nanoparticles and biomolecules will help advance applications of nanomedicine in health care, including therapeutics, diagnostic, drug delivery and imaging.
