Marieke Van Puymbroeck is a recreational therapist and rehabilitation scientist, who serves as an Associate Dean of the Graduate School, with a focus on professional development, health, and well-being. Dr. Van Puymbroeck formerly served as the Graduate Coordinator and the Program Director of Recreational Therapy in the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Studies.

How their research is transforming health care

Dr. Van Puymbroeck's research primarily uses yoga, and other evidence-based programs (such as Matter of Balance) to reduce falls, enhance falls efficacy, and improve overall health and well-being among older adults. She is currently Program Director of an ACL grant that will bring Matter of Balance to almost 700 older South Carolinians.
