What is CUBS?

The Community for Undergraduate Business Students Advantage.

CUBS is a living-learning community created for first-year students majoring in business. Students participate in social events, workshops, core classes, industry tours and community service throughout the year. The program focuses on helping students reach their educational and career goals while forming friendships lasting through their college experience and beyond. Students live in the new village in Douthit Hills Building E, where students will attend Business 1010 classes and be near The Hub.

CUBS Core Values

Community

CUBS prioritizes collaboration, understanding and inclusivity. The CUBS community fosters relationships where individuals come together to share ideas and help one another.

Inclusion

CUBS aims to create spaces where everyone feels valued, respected and heard regardless of background, identity or experience.

Balance

CUBS seeks to harmonize various aspects of life to promote well-being and fulfillment. The goal is to find an equilibrium between work and personal life by encouraging a thoughtful approach to priorities.

Growth

CUBS seeks to develop first-year business students so that they are ready for the next years of college and, eventually, a career.

Student's Favorite Events

Students learn an overview of the CUBS program, including what to expect, meeting the mentors and leaders, and getting to know other CUBS students. This takes place right after classes start.

The CUBS Kick-Off is my favorite event. It's the best time to make friends since everyone is still new and open to meeting people! - Kayleigh Doerflein, Sophomore Marketing and Management Major

Students learn and practice proper business dinner etiquette with friends. Students are served a three-course meal featuring a presentation of proper etiquette and place settings.

On major nights, students explore and learn about all the different business majors that Clemson has to offer. Each major will have a seminar night dedicated to their specific course curriculum. Major nights feature a panel of upperclassmen students and professors who share advice about the discipline, future career paths, and ways to get involved with the major.

Each CUBS student will be paired with a former CUBS upperclassmen mentor with their desired major. These mentor pairings will meet multiple times throughout each semester to guide them through the program, prepare them for education in the Powers College of Business, and help with the transition into college.

The professional meet and greet is an opportunity for CUBS students to network with professionals from national companies and prestigious business organizations on Clemson's campus. Students also get to network one-on-one with Dean Wendy York.

Students compete alongside their friends in recreational games for prizes. Events include trivia, volleyball, cornhole, Just Dance and Spikeball.
