Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the program, staff members must:
- Be full-time employees who have been at Clemson for at least three years
- Have performance evaluation ratings of “Successful” or higher
- Have supervisor approval and support
Application Requirements
Interested individuals must complete the staff application form in its entirety to apply for the next cohort of CU Grow. Applicants are asked several questions regarding professional history, their role at the University, their professional development experience and their goalsfor program participation.
Interested applicants may also submit an optional letter of recommendation from a colleague or supervisor who can speak to your leadership potential or commitment to growth. Though not required, this letter helps the selection committee learn more about your strengths and goals.
Once applicants complete the staff application form, supervisors should complete the supervisor approval form. Supervisors will be asked to approve of the individual's participation in the program and provide feedback on how the individual could utilize the program to advance development. Applications will not be considered without a complete supervisor approval form.
Things to Consider
Time Commitment
CU Grow is a year-long experience that includes monthly cohort sessions, mentorship meetings, and a capstone project. Make sure you can carve out time in your schedule to fully participate.
Supervisor Support
You’ll need approval and ongoing support from your supervisor to participate. Consider having a conversation about your goals and how the program aligns with your professional development.
Project Ideas
Each participant completes a project that aligns with their interests and institutional goals. You don’t need a finalized plan, but you should come in with a few ideas you’re excited to explore.
Mentorship Goals
Think about what you’re hoping to gain from your mentoring relationship. Are you seeking guidance on leadership, navigating your career path, skill-building, or something else?
Growth Mindset
CU Grow is designed for individuals who are open to feedback, eager to learn, and willing to stretch themselves. You don’t need to have it all figured out – but you do need to be ready to grow.
Engagement with Others
This is a cohort-based experience, and your participation impacts the group. Being present, respectful, and open to connection with others is key to building a strong community.
