Welcome to the Upstate of South Carolina
The Upstate is the northwestern region of South Carolina, comprised of ten counties. This area includes small towns and growing cities, with access to the Blue Ridge Mountains and major lakes. Greenville County is the largest urban center, offering various cultural, medical, and professional opportunities. Pickens, Oconee, and Anderson counties are home to Clemson and nearby towns like Seneca, Central, and Pendleton, known for their college-town atmosphere, outdoor recreation, and community feel. Other counties across the Upstate provide additional options for housing, schools, and work opportunities. The region is connected by Interstate 85, making travel between cities and to nearby Charlotte or Atlanta convenient.

Transit
If you need a parking permit, visit Clemson Parking and Transportation Services. This needs to be done before starting work if you want to park on campus. Clemson University encourages taking advantage of alternative transportation, such as CATBUS, transit services and carpooling.
Tiger Transit is a free evening shuttle service that serves all Clemson University students, faculty, staff and visitors. For your safety and convenience, Tiger Transit drivers are pleased to provide door to-door service to and from any location on Clemson’s campus. Call 864-656-3333, use the My.Clemson app or visit the Clemson Nightline Page to request a ride.
