The OES Research Safety Group provides support services to Clemson University researchers in laboratory and chemical safety, biosafety, and radiation safety. Research Safety offers a range of online training courses covering topics such as bloodborne pathogens, radioactive materials, and X-ray equipment. The Office of Research Compliance (ORC) promotes a culture of compliance, research integrity, and high-quality research within the University community. This is accomplished through consultation and educational programs for all researchers. The ORC facilitates University research, teaching, and public service programs by overseeing and coordinating of research compliance areas involving human subjects, vertebrate animals, recombinant DNA, hazardous agents and research misconduct. More information about compliance, including the Institutional Review Board (IRB), Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC), and InfoEd can be accessed through the ORC’s page.

The IRB (Institutional Review Board) is a federally mandated body established under the DHHS regulations for the Protection of Human Subjects (45 CFR 46). Its purpose is to protect the rights and welfare of human subjects recruited to participate in research activities conducted under the auspices of Clemson University (CU). The CU’s IRB page also provides access to required trainings, such as CITI Human Subjects Certification, and links to InfoEd, which is Clemson’s IRB submission portal, found on ORC's IRB Page.

CURF supports Clemson University faculty, students, and administrative leadership as part of research collaboration, technology maturation, and technology commercialization. More information available on the CURF website.  

Many colleges at Clemson have college-level support services for research, and some examples are provided below. PEPS should contact their supervisors, department chairs, and/or Associate Deans for Research to get more information about what resources might be available to them.

Machine and Technical Services 

Machining and Technical Services (MTS) is a Research Support Center offering capabilities from drafting and machining to plastic fabrication and welding.  
 

Proposal Development 

The College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences Proposal Development Office is a decentralized, service-oriented unit that assists faculty with pre-awards activities.
