About
Dr. Hoeflich holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Florida with concentrations in Clinical and Translational Science as well as Psychiatric Epidemiology. By leveraging large- scale national datasets and electronic health record data, Dr. Hoeflich's research was dedicated to elucidating emerging trends, etiology, and health effects of substance use and novel psychoactive drugs through advanced epidemiological modeling and clinical data integration. Since June 2024, Dr. Hoeflich has served as a data management scientist at Prisma Health, where she continues to evaluate shifts in clinical care and barriers to treatment. In her current work, Dr. Hoeflich has the wonderful opportunity to collaborate with researchers and physicians at Prisma Health as well as faculty of Clemson University, the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, and Albert Einstein College of Medicine to develop rigorous study designs, analyze data, and disseminate research findings for epidemiological studies, quality improvement projects, and randomized controlled trials focusing on a multitude of health conditions, such as substance use disorders, hepatitis C, psychiatric disorders, sepsis, and cardiovascular disease.
How their research is transforming health care
I am dedicated to transforming health care through the application of rigorous epidemiological research and data science. My work generates transparent, replicable insights that evaluate and inform evidence-based interventions and quality improvement initiatives. I am fortunate to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and physician-scientists on diverse research priorities, such as novel substance use, polysubstance disorders, cardiovascular disease, sepsis, and hepatitis c. Ultimately, I focus on translating salient findings into scalable and sustainable quality improvement initiatives that mitigate patient morbidity and improve long-term patient trajectories across the care continuum.
