About

Dr. Hudson’s academic and practice background prepare him to investigate patient, provider, and organizational factors mediating clinical outcomes and patient well-being. He lectures in Clemson University’s Clinical and Translational Research Graduate Certificate program. He is also a faculty member of Clemson’s School of Nursing and Clemson’s Medical Biophysics program. Dr. Hudson is co-investigator and Cancer Care Delivery Research (CCDR) Director of Prisma Health’s NIH award, National Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) community sites (UM1). He serves as Deputy Editor in Chief of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute-Cancer Spectrum. Dr. Hudson is also a member of the National Academies of Science Engineering and Medicine’s ad hoc committee examining the use of race and ethnicity in biomedical research. Dr. Hudson previously served the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) on their Patient Engagement Advisory Panel. Dr. Hudson’s leadership roles position him to advance transdisciplinary, patient-centered health service research specifically informing oncology practice and more broadly informing population health. Dr. Hudson earned his degrees from the University of San Francisco (B.A. Psychology), the University of California at Berkeley (M.P.H., Behavioral Science), and Dartmouth College (Ph.D., Evaluative Clinical Science).

Dr. Hudson’s work transforms health care by clarifying how social, behavioral, and psychological attributes drive care access and outcomes. Dr. Hudson’s work also transforms health care by ensuring patient values and preferences inform outcome evaluations. Dr. Hudson collaborates with CUSHR faculty, Clemson’s Medical Biophysics program, and Clemson’s School of Nursing. Dr. Hudson’s efforts include co-developing the clinical research infrastructure essential to evidence integration in real-world clinical practice.
