About

Dr. Daniel Schwerin is an emergency medicine and an EMS physician. He received his Bachelor of Science from the University of South Carolina in biology and sports medicine and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina. He is a graduate of Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine where he also completed a surgical internship. Dr Schwerin completed his residency in Emergency Medicine and fellowship in EMS and Disaster Medicine at Mercy Health St Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, OH. Upon completion of his training, he remained at Mercy Health St Vincent as a core graduate medical education faculty member and an EMS medical director for multiple EMS and fire agencies in northwest Ohio. He was the medical director and flight physician for Mercy
Health Life Flight / Mobile Life critical care transport service. He worked with multiple centers of higher education in northwest Ohio to train prehospital clinicians. He completed the ACEP Teaching Fellowship and the Ohio ACEP Leadership Development Academy. In 2017, Dr Schwerin returned to Greenville, SC to assist with the newly formed Emergency Medicine Residency program with respect to EMS and Disaster medicine education. He is the current medical director for Pickens County EMS, Air Methods Lifenet and TriCounty Technical College. In 2022, Dr Schwerin became the inaugural president of the SC Chapter of the National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP) which is an organization of physicians and other professionals partnering to provide leadership and foster excellence in the superficiality of EMS medicine. How their research is transforming health care

Dr Schwerin's research and scholarly activity foci is on prehospital and disaster medicine that includes mobile integrated healthcare (MIHC). He is also involved in prehospital opiate use research. He has multiple peer-reviewed articles in StatPearls which is an international professional healthcare education and technology company to include prehospital pain management, Active Shooter Response, hydrofluoric acid burns and EMS diabetic protocols for treat and release. He has worked collaboratively with international and national colleagues on position papers with respect to critical care medical direction through NAEMSP.
