Clemson Extension agents with primary horticulture responsibilities work closely with state extension specialists and researchers located on campus and at the various research and education centers located across the state. They provide expertise in topics ranging from fruits and vegetables, landscape, turf, ornamental plants and issues related to home gardening or commercial production.  Many of your home and garden questions can be easily addressed at Clemson's Home and Garden Information Center.

Plant Identification and Use

In this course, you will identify over 100 plant species, including trees, shrubs, groundcovers, and vines. You will also learn to use these woody and herbaceous plants to provide beauty and function in the southeastern landscape.

Farming Foundations

In Farming Foundations, you will learn from experts about the basics of successful farming, such as how to prepare your land and soil for planting, how to stay safe, and how to access helpful farming resources. The course is specifically designed to provide foundational information for fruit and vegetable production in South Carolina.

School Gardening

School Gardening for South Carolina Educators combines horticulture training, ongoing technical support, and equipment for schools to start and sustain successful school gardens.

Participants receive intensive, practical horticultural training on soils and plant nutrition, entomology, plant physiology, plant pathology, vegetable gardening, tree and small fruit culture, lawn management, and culture of woody ornamentals.

Initial Private Pesticide Applicator Certification Course

The Initial Private Pesticide Applicator Certification course is self-paced, online course developed by Clemson Extension. In this course, there are thirteen units that will prepare you for the exam. The final unit will provide a pesticide labeling exercise similar to the one on the exam. The course is self-paced and will take up to four hours to complete. The exam is proctored through Remote Proctor Now. Upon passing the exam, the Clemson Department of Pesticide Regulation will issue a private pesticide applicator's license.

SC Commercial Pesticide Applicator Exam Prep Course

This prep course is designed to help serve as a guide through the manuals to better help you prepare to take the commercial pesticide applicator exams. The course takes the participant through the exam study material and provides practice exams.
