- Contact SCMPID to request guidance on setting up a fully inspected establishment and site visit.
- Ensuring Compliance
- Duration: Months to Years
- Ensure compliance with all mandatory requirements (may require multiple visits and reviews of HACCP System)

- Waste Disposal
- Lighting and Ventilation
- Equipment
- Humane Handling/Good Commercial Practices (if applicable)
- Employees
- Sanitation
- Safety and Training
- HACCP System
- Apply For Permit
- Duration: Approx. One Week
- Contact SCMPID to set up a pre-approval inspection.
- Permit Approval
- Duration: Variable
- SCMPID Area Supervisor and HQ representative inspect establishment, equipment, and plans; observe slaughter (if applicable).
- Depending on readiness of building and plans, it may take multiple visits before approval
- Receive Permit
- Duration: Approx. One Week
- After your permit is approved it should take approximately another week to be delivered.
- Validate HACCP System
- Duration: 90 Days
- After approval, site enters validation period. Once it is completed you are ready.
- Renew Permits
- You will be required to renew your permit on June 30th every year.
