Quarantines are the federal government's way of creating virtual boundaries that might limit the movement of a pest or pest host throughout the nation.  They are an important tool utilized by USDA-APHIS-PPQ in protecting uninfested areas of our country from localized pests, as well as protecting us from pests not known to occur in the United States.  Below is an outline of the existing plant pest-related quarantines in the United States enforced by USDA-APHIS-PPQ.
