About the Faculty Senate

History

The Faculty Senate began in September 1955 when F.M. Kinard, Clemson College dean, formed a Special Committee on Faculty Organization. That committee’s proposal of a “Constitution and By-Laws” of the Academic Faculty and the Faculty Senate of Clemson College was approved at a general faculty meeting on January 27, 1956, and was ratified by the Board of Trustees on April 9 of the same year. Originally a 24-member body, the senate now has 35 full members and 11 alternates.

Regular Meetings

The Faculty Senate meets at 2:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the Madren Conference Center. The first meeting in August is the third Tuesday of the month.
