Welcome to Clemson University! The graduate school orientation program at Clemson University provides the information and resources to ensure a successful transition to your graduate studies. The program promotes discussion on campus community and graduate education among all graduate students (masters, doctoral and post-doc) alongside faculty and staff. Each new degree-seeking graduate student is encouraged to attend orientation.


2021 Spring Semester


Registration for the Spring 2021 Graduate School Orientation will open Nov. 20!


Graduate school orientation for students accepted into the 2021 spring semester is scheduled for Monday, January 4, 2021, 9am-2pm. This will be an online program and will take place through Zoom. New students are strongly encouraged to attend. More details about the online orientation will be emailed to you after you have registered. There is no fee to attend.


Checklist Information


  • Register for the Online Orientation. All newly admitted graduate students for Spring 2021 are welcome to attend. You will have access to register after you are accepted into your graduate program. Online registration opens November 20.

  • Activate your Clemson username and password.

  • Set up your Clemson email and access it on a regular basis.

  • Check your Clemson email for further information regarding orientation.

  • Complete the  Student Immunization Forms and submit proper documentation.

  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

  • Ensure final transcripts are submitted directly to the Office of Graduate Admissions, E-209 Martin Hall, Clemson University, Clemson, SC 29634.

  • Contact  Student Accessibility Services if you anticipate needing special accommodations as a Clemson student (academic, living and dining accommodations).

  • Submit your photo for your TigerOne Card (official University ID) using the online photo submission webpage. Review the guidelines before submitting your photo to ensure a quality photo is submitted.

  • Download the following apps, designed for Clemson students: my.clemson (for everything Clemson), Duo Security app (for Clemson's required two-factor authentication), Navigate app (for your academic reminders and adviser communication) and Clemson Events app (for orientation and other program schedules).

  • Connect with your academic department for information about advising, funding and class registration.

  • Pay tuition and fees - your University bill will be available online.

  • The Graduate School Online Orientation will be delivered through Zoom. You will have received an email with the link and/or meeting code to gain access.
  • Ensure you have internet connectivity.

  • Several important sessions will be delivered through the course of the day on Jan. 4.

  • Know your Clemson username and correct password - you'll use it often!

  • Ensure your mobile device stays charged; you may need it to access Duo Security app and your account.

  • Network with faculty, staff and administrators from the Graduate School and select university departments.

  • Interact with current graduate students and learn more about Clemson.

  • Meet at least one person who can be a resource.

  • Ask questions, have fun!


  • Check your Clemson email daily. Email is Clemson’s primary form of communication with you. Clemson students have access to two emails, username@clemson.edu and username@g.clemson.edu.  You can set up email forwarding to ensure you stay connected.

  • Complete the orientation evaluation.

  • Purchase your Parking Permit. Commuter or Graduate Assistant parking passes are required if planning to park on campus.

  • Sign up for  CU Safe Alerts - an emergency information texting system.

  • Visit University Housing & Dining for meal plan options.

  • Register your valuables (laptop, bicycle, etc.) with Clemson University Police Department.

  • If applicable, ensure the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is complete and aid committed to your account.

  • If you have received an email asking you to verify your legal presence, please access the Legal Presence Documentation Portal and upload one of the proper documents.

  • Refer to the Graduate School's Policies and Procedures Handbook for important information.
  • Get ready to attend classes: buy/rent any text books, computer, software, etc. you may need.

  • Review and plan for your development through GRAD 360º Spring 2021 events.

  • Have a great semester!
