Meet with Your Advisor and Register for Classes
As part of New Student Orientation, all new students meet virtually with an academic advisor to prepare for registering for their first semester of courses.
Academic Advisors are here to guide and support you in your transition to Clemson. Beginning with Orientation advising, we will work with you to create a personalized academic plan that aligns with your goals, interests and strengths.
Before scheduling your academic advising appointment you must:
- Complete modules 1 (welcome) and 2 (academics) in the Virtual Orientation platform
- Submit the pre-advising form outlining your academic goals and expected transfer credits
Before registering for courses for your first semester you must:
- Schedule and attend your academic advising appointment
- Select a course registration time in your Clemson admissions portal
Advising and Course Registration Steps
1. Welcome and Academic Modules
You must virtually complete modules 1 (welcome) and 2 (academics) as the first step in the advising process. These modules help you prepare for your appointment by outlining the advising process, introducing you to the advising team in your major and setting expectations.
2. Pre-Advising Form
Before you can schedule your appointment, you must submit the pre-advising form which is available following Orientation sign-ups and fee payment. You will provide information about credits you expect to bring in along with your intended academic plan at Clemson and future goals.
3. Advising Appointment
After completing the academic modules and pre-advising form, your advisor will reach out to your Clemson email with instructions to schedule your advising appointment through CU Navigate. We encourage you to be patient as you wait to hear from you advisor as they promptly work through student lists.
4. Course Registration
You will have a dedicated date and time to register for courses. For Fall registration, you must select your time ticket in the Clemson admissions portal after meeting with your advisor. For Spring registration, you are automatically assigned your time. Course Registration time ticket options are available below.
New Student Course Registration Times
Most advisors provide virtual meetings during course registration times for additional support. For some majors, these meetings are mandatory. Please review your Clemson email to confirm time ticket times and virtual meeting requirements.
