Community Living
During Summer 2026, students will live in Barnett Hall, Mauldin Hall, Smith Hall, and Calhoun Courts on Clemson’s campus. Summer Start students are required to live on Clemson's campus for the Summer, Fall, and Spring semesters of their first year. Students who live in Anderson, Oconee, or Pickens Counties can request to live with their families through a Residency Waiver request.
HOUSING CONTRACTS
Before any housing contracts can be signed, students must have both activated their Clemson username and paid the enrollment deposit. Please allow 24-48 hours for the enrollment deposit to process. Summer Start students will not be able to fill out their Summer housing contract until they complete the Summer Start Interest Form in their Admitted Student Portal, indicating their decision to participate in Summer Start.
Summer
Summer housing registration closes on May 15 at noon. Students will visit the Clemson Home Portal to review and sign the Summer 2026 Housing contract and addendum and select a roommate. Summer Start students will be able to select Summer Start Community Housing or non-Summer Start Community Housing. Students who select Summer Start Community Housing will live in Calhoun Courts with the same roommate for both the Summer and Academic Year terms. This means Summer Start Community Housing residents will not change roommates or move out of their space at the end of summer. Non-Summer Start Community Housing means a Summer Start student will have a different living space and roommate for the summer and academic year. Students not living in Summer Start Community Housing will live in Barnett Hall, Mauldin Hall, Smith Hall, or Calhoun Courts.
Students must vacate their Summer housing on or before August 5 and arrange for storage/transportation of belongings until Fall move-in unless they are living in Summer Start Community Housing for both the Summer and Academic Year.
Summer Room Selection will occur in mid-May. Students who opt into Summer Start Community Living will select their Summer and Academic Year Room in mid-May, as the room will be the same for Summer, Fall, and Spring terms.
Academic Year (Fall and Spring)
Academic Year housing registration opens in mid-February and closes on May 15 at noon. Students will log into the Clemson Home Portal to review and sign the contract and addendum, select their Residence Hall, select roommate(s), and then complete Room Selection later in May. Students will also pay the $150 non-refundable housing deposit. This is a one-time fee and will not be required for future contracts. Academic Year Room Selection will occur in late May for all incoming first-year students.
MEAL PLANS
Meal plans are convenient, flexible, and loaded with options. All first-year students must purchase an unlimited meal plan for the Academic Year. Your meal plan includes dining locations across campus with a range of menus and offerings. Summer Start residents must purchase the Unlimited Summer II meal plan for the Summer term. During the Summer, meal swipes can be used at the Dish at McAlister Hall.
