Abigail Fleig awarded the James Madison Fellowship
"I just wanted to reach out and share some good news. I found out that I was awarded the James Madison Fellowship, which will pay for my MAT program and provide me the opportunity to concentrate my studies on teaching the Constitution. I will also have the opportunity to study the Constitution at the fellowship's summer institute at Georgetown. They chose one fellow from each state, and I was selected as the South Carolina fellow. I have to hammer out some details before I accept the fellowship, but I just wanted to share and thank all of you for everything the Thomas F. Chapman Leadership Scholars program has done for me!"

This recognition was a timely reminder that 'different is not always a bad thing! I am so thankful to have a community of family, friends, and colleagues who empower and support me, and a career that allows me to give back to the community in a meaningful way. Cheers to a great (nearly!) thirty years, and I am excited to see what the next thirty have in store."
