About Us
Clemson Package Dynamics lab is an ISTA certified laboratory. We began operating as a service center over 25 years ago with the aim to create opportunity for our students to interact with industry clients. We have served 500+ companies during our tenure and serve as the ongoing laboratory for many of our clients. We have a premier testing facility and offer a full range of testing to Amazon, ASTM, ISTA, and TAPPI standards.

Our Mission
-
Educate the Next Generation
We have partnered with CU's UPIC internship program for 10+ years now to offer part-time & full-time paid internships in our lab. These interns have served as an integral part of our operation and learned how to design, perform, and report on distribution test procedures. Many of our interns go on to work with companies that they work with while in our lab. Additionally, all students in the packaging science program go through PKSC 4540. In this class, they are hands on with our vibration tables, drop testers, shock machines, and much more.
-
Facilitate Research
Graduate and undergraduate students are active in our laboratory each year, working on projects to drive forward research in transport packaging. Areas of research include optimizing test procedures, measuring horizontal forces in the distribution environment, and analyzing the performance of protective packaging.
-
Service To Industry
We help industry partners across the supply chain validate their distribution packaging. Our services align with the whole value chain as we evaluate material performance, parcel packages, unit loads, and cold chain packaging solutions.

Testing Capabilities
We conduct Amazon, ASTM, ISTA, MIL-STD, and TAPPI testing in our laboratory. We also partner with clients to generate custom testing protocols that match the distribution environment.
