“Life-changing doesn’t even begin to describe this experience. Before attending the program, I wasn’t sure what the field of agriculture truly had to offer. In just one week, I gained a whole new perspective and formed meaningful bonds that will last a lifetime. I would absolutely recommend this program to anyone already interested in agriculture—and especially to those who simply want to explore everything it has to offer.”

"Growing up in agriculture as a fourth-generation farmer, I always knew that whatever path I chose in life would be connected to the agricultural industry. Throughout middle and high school, I worked on my family’s farm, where we operate as a grower-reproducer for Smithfield and raise cattle. While I knew I wanted to contribute to the future of our operation, I was not always sure how I could make the greatest impact. Through my involvement in agricultural education classes, FFA, and the Boy Scouts of America, I discovered the tremendous support these organizations provide to help young people succeed. It was through FFA that I learned about the South Carolina Commissioner’s School for Agriculture, and I knew it was an opportunity I could not pass up. As a camper, I had the opportunity to connect with industry leaders, build relationships with fellow students, and explore a variety of agricultural careers through hands-on labs and industry tours. SCCSA provided me with far more than knowledge, it inspired me to continually seek new opportunities that challenge me and help me grow. Since attending SCCSA, I have earned the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, served as one of six South Carolina FFA State Officers, and am currently pursuing a degree in Agricultural Mechanization and Business with a minor in Military Leadership. I am incredibly grateful for the impact SCCSA has had on my personal and professional development, and I highly encourage any student interested in agriculture to take advantage of this life-changing experience."
