Commencement

Accessible Accommodations

The University strives to make commencement accessible for those with disabilities. Make plans to arrive early for accessible parking, as spaces are limited.

Littlejohn Coliseum

Parking

ADA Parking will be available on the north side of Littlejohn Coliseum along Ravenel Road and the North Circle parking lot. Staff will be available inside the north entrance with wheelchairs to assist guests to ADA seating. Staff will return to the guest with a wheelchair at the end of the ceremony to assist the guest with exiting the coliseum. Wheelchairs are not available for individual use and will not remain with guests during the ceremony.

Seating

Multiple wheelchairs are available to assist guests with limited mobility. Individuals who work graduation escort patrons from the entrance to accessible seating and then take the wheelchair for others to use. At the end of the graduation ceremony, these workers return with wheelchairs and escort patrons from their seats back to the entrance.

ASL Interpreters

For the ceremonies at Littlejohn, the interpreters are in a feed on the jumbotron, and there is a livestream that is accessible on a device for those who can't see the large screen. Captioning is also available in the same way.

Brooks Center, Doctoral Hooding Ceremony

Parking

ADA Parking is available on the north side of the C-11 (Brooks Center) parking lot.

ASL Interpreters

For the Ph.D. hooding ceremony at the Brooks Center, captioning is available on a device on the livestream, and there are interpreters in the auditorium, generally down front on the right side (as you are looking at the stage). That placement may change, but any ushers can direct those needing interpretation services. In addition, there are reserved seats for people who require interpreting.
