Onboarding - Set up Clemson username and password
International Student Visas

In order to issue the appropriate certificate of eligibility for your visa application process, you will need to complete the following steps:

  1. Wait to receive instructions from the Graduate School on accessing your Clemson Username and Password (email will be sent 3-5 days after accepting offer of admission).
  2. Follow the instructions to access Clemson Username and create Password. A helpful video can be found here. If you already have a Clemson username and password, proceed to step 3.
  3. Complete the instructions on accessing the Sunapsis Student Portal to submit an E-Form Request for Certificate of Eligibility on the International Services Website

*Transfer Students: Students transferring an Active SEVIS record from another U.S. institution will also need to submit the IS-100 Request to Transfer-In F-1 SEVIS record or IS-270 Request to Transfer-In J-1 SEVIS record and complete the Transfer-In E-Form. Forms may be found through this link: http://www.clemson.edu/administration/ia/services/forms.html

Please allow 7-10 business days from the SEVIS transfer release date for processing time of the transfer I-20 or DS-2019.

Orientation(s)

The New Graduate Student Orientation will be held in August for fall semester and January for spring semester. Watch the events section of our home page and your Clemson.edu email account for date/location/time. All new graduate students are expected to attend. However, off-campus, distance education and part-time students are welcomed to attend this orientation but are not required to do so.

Transcripts

Official transcripts are only required of those applicants who are offered admission. Therefore, upon receiving official notice of acceptance to the Graduate School, you should request official transcripts from the institutions where you completed your previous academic work. Transcripts are considered official only if they are received by the Graduate Admissions Office in a sealed university envelope.

Final-official transcripts must be received by Clemson University in a sealed envelope from the issuing institution. The title of the degree earned and the date awarded must be noted to be considered a final-official transcript. Official certificates or diplomas in sealed envelopes from the issuing institution should accompany any transcripts that do not note the degree earned and date awarded directly on the transcripts.

International Applicants:
Final-official transcripts must be received by Clemson University in a sealed envelope from the issuing institution. The title of the degree earned and the date awarded must be noted to be considered a final-official transcript. DO NOT send Secondary (High School) transcripts or any type of certificates other than degree certificates

Transcript Translations
An English translation of all transcripts is required. Translations are accepted from the issuing institution or translations provided by any NACES recognized credential evaluation service. For a list of NACES recognized evaluation companies, please visit: http://www.naces.org/members.html

Health Insurance & Medical Clearance

Complete Medical Requirements & Health Insurance

All new or transfer students are required to complete the Student Immunization Form and provide written proof of required immunizations by July 1st for fall semester and December 1st for spring semester. Please see the official Immunization Policy by clicking here.

In addition, all full-time Graduate Students on the main campus, Graduate Assistants, and International Students will be enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan. If you already have health insurance coverage, you will need to download the Online Health Insurance Waiver form (PDF). Then, follow the instructions to request a waiver of the required Student Health Insurance Plan. Financials

Pay Student Fees and/or Tuition

Even if you are on an assistantship, you will still be responsible for paying student fees. Please see the Paying Your Bill page at the Student Financial Services website to pay your tuition and fees after registering for courses.

Late Fees

For Spring 2017, you must pay your tuition and fees by January 5th for mailed, credit card or walk-in payments. You will not have a tuition bill until you have registered for courses. If you register for classes after the tuition payment deadline, you will need to pay your tuition and fees the same day you register for classes, otherwise you will be assessed a $150 late fee.

Housing

University housing is typically not available to graduate students. Please visit the University Off-Campus Housing web site for information on roommates, subletting, rental and purchase property.

To further assist you in securing appropriate off campus housing accommodations, a housing rental guide of housing opportunities in the city of Clemson and the surrounding areas is also available on the city of Clemson's website or through Tiger Properties.
