The Commission on Latino Affairs
Established in April 2017, the Commission on Latino Affairs advises on the planning, implementation and evaluation of university programs, policies and services designed to improve the status of the Hispanic and Latino faculty, staff and students on campus. Furthermore, the Commission communicates specific recommendations intended to enhance the Clemson experience for Hispanic and Latino faculty, staff and students to the President and the Diversity Council of Clemson University.
Commission on the Black Experience
The Commission on the Black Experience advises the Division of Inclusion and Equity and Clemson University about the Black experience at Clemson and advocates for specific actions to enhance its quality and the environment. The Commission works to identify any institutional barriers or problem areas and make recommendations to promote and improve inclusion for Black faculty, staff and students, in addition to fostering good relationships with Black alumni and the local Black community.
Commission on Women
The Commission on Women aims to improve the quality of life for women at Clemson University. The commission's charge is to discern the status of women at Clemson and document findings; discover and pursue the removal of institutional barriers; collect information and conduct research regarding issues that affect women, including the study of practices followed by commissions on women at other universities; and explore problem areas that limit equal opportunities and advancement.
APIDA Commission
The Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi American (APIDA) Commission aims to serve in an advisory capacity to the university administrators, faculty, staff and students regarding matters that affect the APIDA community in and around Clemson University.
Sustainability Commission
This Commission coordinates efforts to make the University a model of affordable, fiscally responsible, environmental sustainability for public institutions of higher education.
Veterans Commission
Established in 2018, this Commission serves Clemson University administrators, faculty, staff and students in an advisory capacity regarding matters that affect veterans and their families. The Commission seeks to create an atmosphere that encourages inclusion and recommends policies that improve access and opportunities for our student veterans.
Accessibility Commission
The Accessibility Commission advises and makes recommendations to the Council of Inclusion and Diversity about all areas impacting accessibility.
Lavender Commission
This Commission advises on matters affecting LGBTQ people to ensure the university appropriately addresses issues of equity, safety and welfare for LGBTQ faculty, staff, students and guests. The commission aspires to unite various organizations working on LGBTQ programs, education and outreach at Clemson to help create a more welcoming and inclusive campus environment.
