Past Chief Academic Officers
The provost, or Chief Academic Officer plays a central role in providing a positive and effective learning experience for students at the University. They're responsible not only for understanding the Chancellor's and President's vision for the institution but also for connecting with faculty and community members on campus to oversee and improve processes. Such process matter includes academic programs, curricula, budgets and other topics crucial to the success of the University and its community.
Robert H. Jones currently serves as Clemson's Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. With broadened expectations to accommodate our growing demands, the official title of this role has changed several times since the first Chief Academic Officer served at the University — shifting from Dean of College to Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of University — and so on. Yet, the honor of this role remains consistent with that of the first Chief Academic Officer to serve at the institution.
Meet Clemson's Provosts from the past, whose dedication to excellence and commitment to student success built a foundation for every Chief Academic Officer to come.
