Get started with SC Adopt-a-Stream by attending a workshop or other event!

Free training workshops are scheduled around the state for volunteers to learn and practice the SC Adopt-a-Stream protocols for Freshwater, Macroinvertebrate, and Tidal Saltwater Monitoring. Courses typically last 5-6 hours, including a classroom lesson and outdoor field practice, followed by an open-book certification test. Workshops are open to new volunteers as well as returning volunteers who are seeking annual certification renewal. An online recertification course is also available three times per year for Freshwater and Macroinvertebrate monitoring.
