Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Accessing iLab

Accessing Core Schedules and Equipment

  • How do I schedule equipment in a Core Facility?

Using your iLab login credentials, you can place orders and schedule equipment time.

    1. Select the Schedule Equipment or Calendars tab and click on the View Schedule button next to the instrument of interest. Click and drag on the time frame you would like to schedule your reservation for.
    2. A window will pop up that will allow you to verify your reservations details and provide payment information before saving the reservation.
  • How do I request a Consultation/Services in a Core Facility?

Using your iLab login credentials, you can place a service request.

    1. Select the Request Services tab and click on the Request Service button next to the service of interest.
    2. You will be asked to complete a form before submitting the request to the core.
    3. Your request will be pending review by the core. The core will review your request and either Agree to the work or they will ask for more information if needed.

What method of Payment is accepted?
iLab accepts Credit and Purchase Cards in order to pay invoices directly within the system. Users may also select Check if they have arranged to deliver payment to the core or PO if they have arranged to receive Purchase Orders from the core.

  • I receive a Missing Payment Information error when trying to reserve equipment or place a service request.

This error is usually seen when a user did not make a payment selection. Scroll to the Payment Information section and choose the desired method.

  • How do I split charges?

Select Split Charge under the Payment Information section. Choose the payment methods that will be charged and assign a percentage to each. The total allocated must equal 100%.

  • What is the kiosk?

The Clemson research cores utilize a system of interlocks that activate equipment and track usage for billing and reporting. To access these interlocks, each core has a Kiosk interface you will need to start familiarizing yourself with. Equipment reservations can be started and stopped at the Kiosk.

To start your session with an already existing reservation:

    1. You will log into the Kiosk interface using the same credentials you use to log into the main iLab site for the core.
    2. Once logged in, you will see a list of your prescheduled reservations in “My kiosk sessions” (If you have multiple sessions, there is a search box to help guide you to the correct one you wish to start)
    3. Find your session, and to the right you should have a green “start” button. Once you click start, you will see the details of your reservation as well as a timer in the upper right-hand corner.
    4. To navigate back to your list of sessions, click in the drop-down menu where you see your name. Click my reservations.
    5. You may log out while your session is in process. To log out, click the upper right hand side menu and select Log out.  On the log out screen, you will see your list of Active sessions.

To start your session as a walk in:

    1. You will log into the Kiosk interface using the same credentials you use to log into the main iLab site for the core.
    2. Select the instrument on the left-hand menu on which you would like to use.
    3. A calendar for the availability will appear, click “Create Session” to begin, select the desired duration, and click “Create Session” again.
    4. A new window will appear with the details for that reservation. You may be required to enter in your payment information and the equipment use type.
    5. Once all required information is filled out, click the start button to begin your session. Once you click start, you will see a timer in the upper right-hand corner.
    6. To navigate back to your list of sessions, click in the drop-down menu where you see your name. Click my reservations.
    7. You may log out while your session is in process. To log out, click the upper right hand side menu and select Log out.  On the log out screen, you will see your list of Active sessions.
  • Can I extend a reservation?

You may add time to your reservation if another user does not have the equipment reserved within a certain length of time after your scheduled end. Each core will determine that time window. If allowed, log back into the kiosk Before your reservation ends, and click the green Extend button. Set your new end time and sign back out of the kiosk.

  • The screen went dark during my session. What do I do?

If you do not sign out or extend a reservation within a designated amount of time, the iLab interlocks will disable Your access to the equipment. This will Not affect the instrument or your data. Return to the kiosk and begin a new Walk-Up session if the equipment has not been reserved by another user after you.

  • How do I end my session?
    1. You will log into the Kiosk interface using the same credentials you use to log into the main iLab site for the core.
    2. Find your current reservation in the list under “My kiosk sessions” and click the blue Finish button.
    3. A pop-up box will appear, asking you to confirm your action. Click “Finish session” again. Your time on the instrument has been logged.
