Spring 2022 New Student Orientation

Clemson University’s New Student & Family Orientation experience consists of the following components:

  • Orientation Sign-Ups

  • Virtual Orientation Modules

  • Virtual Academic Advising Appointment

  • Course Registration

  • Optional In-Person Experience

The New Student Orientation program at Clemson University is the first step in ensuring that new undergraduate students have a successful transition and integration into college life. The program promotes discussion among parents and family members, new students, continuing students, and faculty and staff around the expectations and experiences of the campus community. The following is important information regarding registration for New Student Orientation. Please review the following carefully.

Orientation Sign Ups

Orientation Sign Ups are now open and your student will sign up through the Admitted Student Portal. After your student has signed up for Orientation, they will receive an email outlining next steps to complete the virtual orientation component which includes preparing for academic advising, selecting courses, and preparing for student life at Clemson. It is imperative that students monitor their CLEMSON EMAIL for this and other important communications.

Students must complete the onboarding process to set up their Clemson username, password and Clemson email address before accessing the New Student Orientation Virtual Platform. Please follow the instructions on the Next Steps tab in your Admitted Student Portal.

Student Transition and Support Fee (Non-Refundable)

The student transition and support fee supports several programs and services in addition to the actual Orientation program that students utilize throughout their time at Clemson. In addition to Orientation, the fee supports Welcome Week, transition and engagement programs, academic advising, retention efforts, academic success, and campus connection initiatives, transfer student services, and family programs including parent and family orientation. The fee is non-refundable.

Fee Amount:

  • New Students Spring 2022 - $250

Virtual Orientation

Once your student completes the Orientation sign-up process, they will receive a confirmation email (to their CLEMSON email) which includes a link to the Virtual Orientation program.

Students are encouraged to complete all seven Modules; however, Module 2: “Academics” must be completed before an Academic Advising appointment can be scheduled.

As a supporter of your student, you are also welcome to engage with the Virtual Orientation platform as a guest. After creating a guest account, you will have access to all modules, with exception to major-specific content, which will provide an inside look into what your student will experience at Clemson, both in and outside the classroom.

Academic Advising

After completing Virtual Orientation Module 2: “Academics”, your student will be instructed on how to set up an academic advising appointment. These appointments will be conducted virtually between the date your student signs up for Orientation and Jan. 10.

Course Registration – Jan. 10

The Virtual Orientation modules, as well as your student’s academic adviser, will help your student prepare for Course Registration on Jan. 10 at 1:30 p.m. Course Registration will take place virtually. Staff will be available via Zoom for assistance.

Optional In-Person Experience – Jan. 10

In addition to the Virtual Components of your student’s new student orientation process, we are offering an optional In-Person Experience on Jan. 10 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. that will introduce students and families to campus, connect you to Clemson faculty and staff, and officially kick off your journey at Clemson University. Your student will receive instructions via email around how to sign up for this optional experience, and guests are welcome to attend the program as well! It is free for students, and only $30 for each guest the student brings with them on Jan. 10. Lunch is provided.

Important: The In-Person Experience pauses for students at 1 p.m. to allow for Course Registration. Your student can either step away from the program and complete Course Registration from a computer off-campus, or they may bring a laptop to complete Course Registration on campus in a space provided. Computers will not be available for students on Jan. 10 on campus, so students will need to provide their own means of logging on to register. Interest sessions featuring campus partners and resources will complete the day and will run until approximately 4 p.m. Parents & family members are encouraged to attend these sessions or visit our guest lounge while students are participating in Course Registration.
