Grounded in their passion and knowledge of Clemson, Orientation Ambassadors offer guidance and resources to create a supportive first connection to the Clemson community that fosters pride and belonging. Along the way, Ambassadors develop in their own leadership and professional skills, making a lasting impact on the new Tigers they serve and their own Clemson Journey.

Shaping the Clemson Experience as an Orientation Ambassador
Orientation Ambassadors are expected to guide and support new students and their families through a smooth transition process into the University Community by connecting them to campus and its resources.

Ambassador Eligibility
- A love for Clemson
- Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
- Satisfactory academic and student conduct standing
- Enrolled at Clemson prior to and following the summer of service

Ambassador Requirements
- Enroll in Student Development Theory, Leadership and Counseling Skills for Student Leaders (EDSA 3900) for the Spring term
- Attend the Orientation Ambassador Retreat in mid-January
- Participate in intensive training in mid-May
- Work Ready, Set, Roar! beginning in late May and ending in early August
- Support online course registration weeks in June and July
- Volunteer at various new student experiences throughout the Spring as available

Application Process
The Orientation Ambassador application is open during October, with interviews and offers made during November. For questions, contact orientation@admission.clemson.edu or explore more about each step of the process below:

Step 1: Learn More
Review requirements
We encourage all applicants to review Orientation Ambassador eligibility, requirements and benefits prior to submitting their application.
Connect with us on campus
Throughout October, the Orientation Recruitment Team tables at various spots on campus for you to drop in and ask any questions. See when and where we are tabling.
Attend an information session
Multiple information sessions are offered in-person and online for you to learn more about being an Ambassador. View information session dates and times.

Step 2: Submit Your Application
Applications open October 1 in TigerQuest. Applicants should plan to submit their completed application by October 31.

Step 3: Prepare for Interviews
Interviews for Orientation Ambassadors consist of two rounds: a group interview followed by an individual interview. Both interviews take place in November.
First Round: Group Interview
This interview is primarily composed of team-building style games, and interviewees are assessed on how they problem-solve and work with others.
Second Round: Individual Interview
This interview is a fifteen minute "Get to Know You" interview. We want to learn more about you, your story, your passions and what makes you, you.

Step 4: Meet the Team
Orientation Ambassador offers are sent by the end of November. Instructions for accepting the offer and next steps are provided in the notification.

All new and returning Orientation Ambassadors will meet prior to the end of the Fall term to connect, welcome and celebrate the excitement ahead!

While being an Orientation Ambassador allows you to share your love of Clemson and create a foundation of success for new Tigers, there are also key outcomes that we hope all Ambassadors will learn and experience to empower their own Clemson Journey.

- Learn to recognize and support the needs and development of new college students as they transition into campus life.
- Build top-tier customer service and communication skills to connect effectively with students, families, and campus guests.

- Practice compassion and empathy through skills like active listening, storytelling, reflection, and critical thinking.
- Explore leadership roles and goals while developing as a peer leader who inspires growth, teamwork, and meaningful connections.
