Summer Start at Clemson

What is Summer Start?

Summer Start provides a select group of first-year students with an early opportunity to complete two academic courses before their first Fall semester, further develop their learning and study skills and connect with the Clemson community. The program supports a successful transition to Clemson through success coaching, mentoring and engagement in intentional programs and support services.

Summer Start is a program for first-year applicants to Clemson University who are offered Summer admission. There is no additional application for Summer Start. First-year applicants to Clemson are automatically considered for the program during the application review process, and a select group receives offers to participate.

A Summer of Success

Two male Clemson students walk side by side as they have a conversation.

“Participating in the program made me feel like the cool freshman. I knew where things were [before Fall semester]. It was nice to make Clemson my home over the summer and learn what study methods work, where is the best spot to be, and what are some hidden things that will help me along the way.”
