Academic Advising

Change of Major Policy

The Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business limits times when students may request a Change of Academic Program (CoAP) each semester. The Business School stops changing students into pre-business, business majors, and graphic communications on the last day to add or register for classes each semester. This is typically the Tuesday after classes begin in each regular semester. Students should submit their requests at least two business days prior to this cutoff date to ensure adequate time for processing to occur. The College resumes processing major changes on the first day of registration each semester.

For specific dates for the current semester and change of academic program information for other colleges, please visit the University advising page.

The College is not currently offering explore appointments for students interested in changing their major to pre-business and then eventually into a declared business major. Instead, students should work with their currently assigned Advisor to receive their PIN number. Only a student's currently assigned Advisor has access to their registration code. If students meet the minimum requirements to change their major (as outlined below), they can submit a change of major request using iROAR.

Resources such as the curriculum worksheets, Degree Works "What-if" report and the course catalog will be helpful tools as you determine your best scheduling options. If students are not yet eligible to declare their major, they can call the Advising Center at 864-656-6172 to request a brief review of their intended schedule.

Please be advised the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business does have a major and course fee.

These requirements are subject to change.
