Student Contest: Design our Provost Office Lapel Pin

Clemson University’s Provost Office is excited to announce its 2017 Lapel Pin Contest! This is an opportunity for students to show off their design skills. The contest will be open for entries until December 1, 2017. The winner will receive $500.


  • Contest Details

    WHAT IS THE GOAL? Design a new lapel pin for Clemson University’s Office of the Provost.

    WHAT IS A LAPEL PIN? A lapel pin is a small pin worn on clothing, often worn on the lapel of a jacket. Lapel pins indicate a wearer's affiliation with an organization or cause.

    WHAT IS THE PRIZE? $500

    WHO CAN ENTER? The contest is open to currently enrolled Clemson University undergraduate students in any major.

    HOW DO I ENTER THE CONTEST? Students should submit their entries via email. See below for more details.

    DEADLINE: December 1, 2017

    DISCLAIMER: To comply with US Department of Education regulations student awards, prizes, and gifts for academic pursuits or achievements must be reported to Student Financial Aid. This office has the responsibility to determine whether adjustments are necessary. Upon receipt of this contest’s prize, one of the following actions MAY be required:

    1. An adjustment to the financial aid award that the student has already received in the current semester or may receive in a subsequent semester, and /or

  • Design Requirements

    DIMENSIONS: The design should be no larger than 2”W x 2”H

    FILE FORMAT: The following are acceptable file formats: bmp, jpg, png, or gif. Please make sure the design is not a photo and that the file has a resolution of at least 300 dpi.

    DESIGN ELEMENTS: The design must incorporate the following design elements:
    1. OUR NAME: For short, we are often referred to as “The Provost’s Office” or “Office of the Provost.” We prefer our more descriptive title of “Academic Affairs and the Provost.” If you wanted to get really formal, we are officially the “Office of the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Provost.
    2. WHAT WE DO: The Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost: This is the chief academic officer of the University and has responsibility for the University’s academic affairs. The following individuals report to the Provost: the Deans of the seven colleges and the Deans of the Graduate School, Undergraduate Studies, and Libraries. Other direct reports include the Senior Associate Provost, the Associate Provost for Global Engagement, Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Vice President for Research, the Associate Vice President of Academic Initiatives, the Vice Provost for Computing and Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, the Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness, the Executive Director of the Watt Family Innovation Center, the Executive Director, and the Executive Director of the Calhoun Honors College. Given the broad scope of Academic Affairs, numerous offices and entities are under the umbrella of the Provosts Office. These include, for example, Online Education, Off-campus, Distance and Continuing Education, and several University Committees.
