Faculty Development
Clemson® ELEVATE, the University's new strategic plan, addresses the critical role that faculty productivity, engagement and belonging will play in the overall success and reputation of the University. Its three fundamental pillars:
- Deliver the #1 Student Experience in the nation.
- Advance scientific search and discovery by doubling research expenditures by 2035.
- Transform lives statewide and beyond through measurable health outcomes and economic development.
Engaged and productive faculty are critical to the success of each of Clemson ELEVATE’s pillars. Whether through teaching, research, service, extension, or community engagement, faculty are key to the University’s success. The University supports faculty engagement, success, and job satisfaction through professional faculty development. Faculty development can include various programming, tools and skills development. While Clemson will apply a multipronged approach, a core area of focus for our office will be mentoring across the career stages.
The Office of Faculty Advancement has focused on Mid- and Advanced-Career Mentoring after reviewing the research documenting this as an area of need at higher education institutions. You will find more details on this initiative and general resources below to guide you through taking on a mentee or learning from a faculty peer or other peers maybe in your own mentorship.
