Faculty Travel Fund
As announced in Clemson News, the Faculty Travel Fund supports travel that advances Clemson faculty members’ research, scholarship and creative work. This fund will allow faculty members to share and advance their work in support of the University.
The program is administered by the Office of the Provost in collaboration with the Office of the President.
Eligibility and Requirements
Who is eligible?
Applications are invited from all full-time faculty (tenured, tenure-track and non-tenure-track conducting research, scholarship, and creative work).
Eligible activities may include:
- Presenting research findings at professional conferences.
- Conducting archival, field or other research requiring travel that will contribute to your research program.
- Participating in juried exhibitions, performances or other professional creative activities that advance research and scholarly work.
Travel funds may include support for members of the lead faculty's research group, including undergraduate and graduate students, staff, postdoctoral researchers and other formal members of their research group. It is possible that not every participant proposed will be awarded the full amount; partial funding is possible.
Travel must occur before June 15, 2027.
Funding and Covered Expenses
How much funding is available?
Faculty members may request up to $2,500 per participant.
Awards may cover all or a portion of the requested amount and will depend on availability of funds, number of requests received, and review.
Application Process
How are applications evaluated?
Applications will be evaluated on anticipated benefit, the quality and feasibility of the proposed activity, the need for funding, and the justification of requested expenses. Proposals will be considered in the context of the applicant’s discipline, appointment responsibilities, and career stage. The Office of the Provost is managing application review.
Partial awards may be offered. Requests should be for travel and related fees not otherwise allocated from existing funding. Awardees must follow applicable university travel and reimbursement requirements.
Faculty members may only submit one application.
How to Apply
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis beginning October 20. Applications received by 5 p.m. December 8 will receive priority consideration. Applications received after that date will be reviewed on a rolling basis until resources have been expended.
